Reminisce about good times whilst partaking in tasty treats for you and your pup! The pictures will later be voted on and the winner shall be rewarded with a prize that will surely be awesome to behold!Totally. See you there!

Oh yeah- We also just got in the new Evo formulas! We don’t know about you, but this is the sort of thing that gets us all fired up. There is now a fish formula for both cats and dogs, and there is a new weight management formula just for cats. As always, all of these formulas are grain free and have super high quality ingredients. We have all of the new formulas in all sizes. Come see for yourselves!

Cat Collars are the new black!

They’re collars. They go on cats. They have bells. They’re cute. We have them. Come get them while they’re hot.

Penguins and monkeys and frogs, oh my!

October 7th, 2009 by admin

Don’t worry friends, we’re not talking about The Wizard of Oz gone horribly wrong…

We’re talking about Dog Halloween costumes, of course! (And for the more adventurous of you, Halloween
get-ups for your feline friends as well!)

You won’t believe how cute-er, scary and ferocious these costumes are. Tremble in fear as you witness…
the penguin! Experience the sheer terror of…the bumble bee! And behold, if you dare, the absolute horror
of…pink sparkly bear!!! And for the young pup heading off to Dogwarts…we bring you the Harry Pawter
costume! DO YOU THINK YOU CAN HANDLE IT!?!?!?

As an added extra super happy bonus, we have a lot of costumes in extra huge sizes (think mastiff).

Speaking of mastiffs, we have some huge news. October 22nd will be our 1 year anniversary! (Crazy, right?)

So to celebrate, we’re going to have a little Halloween/anniversary shindig all day. We’ll be serving some
refreshments for people and dogs. We’ll also be giving away raffle tickets with every purchase for some
awesome prizes.

Of course no Halloween party would be complete without a costume contest. We’ll be taking pictures of dogs
(and cats for the fearless) in costumes so that we can later have a vote for everyone’s favorite
and award a prize.

So come on by on Thursday the 22nd with your furry beast in costume and grab a treat. While you’re at it,
tell us how awesome you think we are and how happy it has made you to have us in your neighborhood this
past year and how much you’re looking forward to many more!
The more convincing you are, the more likely we are to rig the drawing in your favor for
the best prize!

(Just kidding!)

In addition to all of the Halloween super happy fun times, we just got in a lot of cool new toys, including
new styles of everyone’s favorite durable plush toy, Tuffees.

Hope to see you soon!

Division/Clinton Street Fair

July 18th, 2009 by admin

Hey Besties and Beasties!

We hope you’re all staying cool in the heat. Don’t worry about us, we were born cool.

But seriously. This update is primarily a head’s up for the super awesome fun fest that is the Division/Clinton Street Fair. This community extravaganza goes down Saturday, July 25th 10 am - 5 pm. Check out live music at the Detour Café then stop by For Paws and let your furry friend cool off in the kiddy (puppy?) pool. If that wasn’t cool enough for you, why not let your pup chill out with a frozen pool-side treat? Why not, indeed! We’ll be selling all natural frozen ice cream treats that are just for dogs made by Portland’s own Pup-sicles. All that, and we’re also going to be giving out free samples of Natura pet foods. Boy, howdy!

While we have your attention, we feel it necessary to point out a couple sweet new items that we just got in.

The first is the Molly Mutt bed. Can I just say that we think this is one of the coolest ideas we’ve seen in a long time? Not only is it practical, functional, economical and eco-friendly, but hot dang are they adorable! Here’s a brief description from their web site:

“Molly Mutt diy dog bed kits are an exciting new approach to keeping textiles out of our landfills. Cover your existing dog bed with the molly mutt dog duvet, or - here’s the cool part - fill it with the old clothes and bedding you’ve got laying around your house. Ready to toss those jams & one-eyed care bears from the mid-nineties? Throw those in your new cover! Your dog gets a new bed, and you get a fun, easy way to recycle your old things - not to mention some extra space in your closet.”

On a final note, we’ve also been bulking up our collar and leash selection. We just got in a shipment of Earth Dog hemp collars and leashes, lots of super cute cat collars, new Urban Hund leather collars, and the very popular and durable EzyDog leashes.

Hope to see you all at the street fair!

Hugs and doggy kisses,

Faye, Alessandra & Bucky

Naked Doggies Party!

June 10th, 2009 by admin

Hello Again, Friends of For Paws!

Just another quick note from your favorite Pet Shop Girls to let you know what’s going on in the land of kibble and cat nip.

First of all, Natura, the well trusted manufacturer of cat and dog foods including Innova, Evo, and California Natural, are offering coupons with killer deals on small bags of their dry food. The coupons are good until June 28th, so don’t delay. Check these bad boys out at http://trythebest.com/

Second order of business:

Ever spend big bucks on a toy for your dog that you were positive he was going to love, just to get it home and find out that he’d rather play with the bag? We know that we have.
Now, have you ever heard of a “naked lady party”? If not, see Get Crafty’s guide here.
We decided it was high time that we host a “Naked Doggy Party” right here at For Paws! The idea is simple. Bring yourself, your pup (if you want to), and any dog toys (or clothes, carriers, leashes, collars, whatever) in reasonably good shape (no toys sans stuffing, squeakers, half chewed rawhides etc). Look through piles of unloved goods, and you just may find your pup’s new favorite toy. The best part? It’s free!

Mark your calendars — The party will be Saturday, June 20th from 6 to 7. There will be human refreshments, and we’ll be open late for naked doggy fun.

Hi Best Friends!

Hey There Friends of For Paws,

We are writing today in need of some input. We are looking to expand our leash/collar selection, and we want to know what our
customers look for in a leash/collar. The more feedback you can give us the better job we can do in providing our customers with
the collars and leashes that they want.

Sooo…here’s what we’d like to know:

When looking at collars and leashes, which of the following are you most interested in?

1. Aesthetics (cute, pretty, fancy)

2. Eco Friendly (hemp, recycled materials, natural dyes etc)

3. Sporty (durable, outdoorsy, good for hiking/running/camping etc)

4. Affordability (simple, you get the idea.)

5. Badassness (leather, spikes, metal, studs)

We think that covers it, but if there’s anything we didn’t mention, please feel free to let us know.

Thanks so much for taking the time to give us some feedback. We count on our customers/BFFs to help us be as awesome as possible.

XOXOXO,

For Paws

Just a quick note to let everyone know we made a couple new additions to our other healthy lines of dog and cat foods.

First we have Taste of the Wild, with three varieties of entirely grain free options for dogs, and one for cats.

Next up is Solid Gold, here by popular demand.  They offer a wide variety of high quality foods from Wee Bits to Wolf Kings.

We’ve also gotten in some of the Honest Kitchen’s dehydrated raw foods, which are great for dogs and cats with sensitive stomachs, as well as dogs who love the great outdoors, but don’t want to haul their heavy bags of kibble.  It’s the perfect hiking/camping food.

Paw PDX Shirts are in!

March 5th, 2009 by admin

Pop quiz:

Which of the following can be found in a list of our favorite things?

1.  Portland

2.  Animals

3.  Animals in T-Shirts

4.  Taxes

If you answered 1-3, you are correct!  If you answered 4, you are an accountant (do accountants even like taxes?) or Voldemort.

And here at For Paws, we jump on the opportunity to combine two or more of our favorite things whenever possible.  When we made the I <pawprint> PDX stickers you have no doubt seen around town, we got to combine 2 (two, count ‘em) of our favorite things.

In one of our many very serious For Paws business meetings (typically conducted over jelly beans or gelato), our marketing team/we realized we could take it to the next level by bringing in another favorite thing:  animals in t-shirts.  Thus, the I <pawprint> PDX t-shirts were born!

We ordered them in a few different sassy colors, in all sizes XS-XXL.  Be sure to pick one up with your next bag of food, and show your PDX pride.

The SE Artwalk and greyhounds in one weekend?

February 25th, 2009 by admin

image

As you may have heard, this weekend is the S.E. Area Art Walk. We are hosting a wonderful artist named Kellee Beaudry who does beautiful pet portraits. She’ll be here showing off her pieces on Saturday and Sunday (2/28 & 3/1) so be sure to come by and check it out, along with all of the other art that will be displayed around the neighborhood.

We also just got in a bunch of new toys from one of our favorite companies. They make super cute (can I just say purple penguins and babboon heads?) and surprisingly durable stuff that you should sneak a peek at while taking in some art. Along with our usual treats for pups, we will have some tasty snacks for us two leggers as well.

As if a weekend of art and culture right in your own back yard wasn’t enough, our good friends at the Oregon Greyhound Association are coming back for another adoption event! They just couldn’t get enough of us here at For Paws! There will be adoptable greyhounds on Saturday 2/28 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. so make sure and stop by to visit them. And you never know, you might just make a new BFF while you’re here!
